As a teenager I traveled to Greece and was introduced to (among many other things) The Worry Stone, not sure if it was my anxiety showing itself outwardly, nonetheless, I purchased a few and used one throughout my travels to calm my nerves — my guess of their origin is akin to mala or rosary beads, the beauty in repetitious movements.
So many years later in my tiny little clay shed the idea resurfaced and I created a batch imagining them as a finished stone, moving the soft clay mostly using my thumb, firing to cone 10 in a gas reduction kiln into stoneware!
