Many moons ago I created this root system to support a twenty foot cardboard tree (last image), a site specific installation that required dismantling when the exhibition ended, but the root system lived on! Taking on a variety of purpose over the years, holding plants outside has been its most popular, but I've also played with a large dish to create a bird bath.

It appears light with the possibility of moving in addition to being sturdy, upright, level and with a jiggle dance when encouraged.

Much effort went into tapering each root tip, sculpting the solid round bars into roots twirling and reaching down into the earth.
