'Lifelong Doodle'

Acrylic paint with wax pencil under resin on plywood panel.
24" x 24" and approx. 2" Deep

This piece was made with patience, painting new lines only when the others dried, weaving the lines as I went with tiny bits of progress each day. I rotated the board as I went, not choosing a particular orientation until the end. The variations of the lines, both in texture and thickness with the acrylic paint encouraged a resin bath to integrate the surface. I then emphasized the woven pattern by outlining the paint lines with a black wax pencil followed by a sealing treatment of clear coat.

This checkerboard pattern is one I've been doodling most of my life, hence the title 'Lifelong Doodle' each time I return to this pattern is utterly unique, evolving over the years.
